The gorgonians, sometimes called cornea corals or bark corals, have about 1,200 species that meet in all tropical and subtropical seas. In the shape of a fan, often in bright colors (red, yellow, purple), their skeleton is made up of a flexible and hard substance, the Gorgonine. Like the other corals, gorgonians are generally fixed at hard substrates, but some species may be on sand or mud bottoms. Here a very beautiful reproduction in synthetic material in a golden version. The foot is made of wood turned in our workshops with a black patina Napoleon III.
